Saina Nehwal is a professional Badminton singles player from India. She is  former world no. 1 and maintain her position on top 10 since 2009. She has won more than 20 international titles which includes a 10 super series  titles.  She also represented India in 3 times in Olympics and manage to acheive bronze medal in her second appearance in Olympics.


Early Life :  

Saina Nehwal is the second daughter of her parents and she is born in Haryana.  Saina Nehwal was interested and very passionate about Badminton from an early age and was coached by Nani Prasad when she was a child , after that she was coached by S.m Arif who is an award winner badminton coach. In 2006 , Saina comes into the limelight as a teenager when she won under - 19 championship and she also won The Asian Satellite Badminton Tournament Two times. In 2006 , she won Philippines open tournament and also played well and performed good at junior tournaments.

Family :

Saina's father name is Harvir singh and her mother's name is Usha Rani and her sister name is Abu Chandranshu Nehwal.
Saina's father worked in CCS HUA.
Saina's father was a strong person and always wanted and wished her daughter to be one of the finest badminton players. The reason behind Saina Nehwal's success is her calibre,  hard work,  passion and her father's support. There  was a time in her parent's life when her father had to withdraw all his deposits  money which he invested in provident fund to provide the optimum and good  coaching to her daughter.

Education: 

Saina Nehwal completed her schooling for few years at campus schools CCS  HUA. Saina also has a brown belt in karate and she did her 12th  from St. Ann's College mendipatnam Hyderabad.

Tournaments :

Saina Nehwal has achieved several milestones in badminton for India. She is the only Indian to have won at least a medal in every BWF main badminton event namely the Olympics the BWF  world championship , and the BWFworld junior badminton Championship . She is the first Indian badminton player to have won an Olympic medal, along with being the only Indian to have won the BWF World Junior Championships or to have reached to the final of the BWF World Championships. In 2006, Nehwal became the first Indian female and the youngest Asian to win a 4-star tournament. She also has the distinction of being the first Indian to win a Super Series title. In the 2014 Uber cup she captained the Indian team and remained undefeated, helping India to win bronze medal. It was India's first medal in any BWF major team event.
Saina successfully did her swiss open title by defeating world no. 2 wan shixian of china. she played london olympics and rio olympics as well as china olympics to represent india.
saina faced some injuries in the starting of 2016 but she eventually recovered . she, the defending champion lost to the reigning olympic champion li xuerui in a hard fought match at the indian open in the semifinals. she registered semifinal finishes at the indian open and malawian open.

Medals / Acheivements :

saina is one of the most successful female indian sportsperson, she is credited for increasing the popularity of badminton in india. in 2016, the government of india honoured saina with padma shri in 2010 , padma bhushan in 2016 , rajiv gandhi khel ratna award in 2010 and the arjuna award in 2009 and she also get most promising player award by badminton association in 2008. she also acheive bronze medal
50 lakh cash award from Rajasthan government 50 lakh cash from Andhra Pradesh state government , 10 lakh rupees cash award from the Badminton Association of India and An honorary doctorate degree by Mangalayatan University.
